The intention for this piece when I created it was to combine jewel-like colors that can sometimes be seen in dragonfly wings. The focal piece is a jewel colored button. Seed beads and other beads and small stones were used to create a graduated branch stick coral design around the front focal button and part of the way up the sides of the necklace. Then spiral weave beading continued up and around the matte amethyst stones to the clasp at the back. I had this necklace in the Coupeville Arts Festival show where a woman came into my booth, falling in love with this piece the moment she saw it. She tried it on, showed her husband, looked in the mirror, talked about how she loved the piece and then named the necklace...the Marriage of Earth and Sky...because that is what she felt it should be called. I was really taken aback as up until that time I had not thought of giving my jewelry pieces a name. Plus, I was touched that someone had obviously been impacted by something that I had created. Now I do occasionally name a created jewelry piece if I feel strongly about the name, and the piece.
