Taking Photos is Good for all Artists!

I had a thought! Taking photographs during a walk is a great thing to do in order to get the creative juices flowing in a positive direction!

A couple of years ago I took a series of walks and always had my smartphone at the ready for photos. I took pictures during about 10 walks. Amazing. At first my photos were not very interesting, uncreative (if that's a word) and blah, but as I took more and more walks and more photographs, I was seeing more creativity and more mystery in my subjects. More depth.

You could try this. It doesn't matter if you are a painter, sculptor, metal artists, poet, musician, writer, or any other creative type, your photos can inspire you! Even months afterwards, looking at the photos you have taken could spur you on to a new angle on writing a song, painting a picture, shaping a sculpture, creating a necklace. Absolutely anything!

One of my photos is of a fern, a huge fern. What I really like about the fern is the color green. It is vibrant, detailed, the light is enchanting. Or the photo taken on the beach of a feather surrounded by stones and kelp, or while on a boat looking over the side taking a shot of the swirling water. Abstraction, realism, something in between. What if you added effects to your photo, or took photos in black and white. It is all fun. It all makes you see and think differently. Isn't that what creativity is all about?
